Introducing SciLumi - White NIR: Dual-Mode LED Illumination for Electrophysiology
Reliable and precise even illumination is essential for successful patch clamp experiments. Whether you’re working with acute brain slices, cultured cardiomyocytes, or other cell preparations, researchers require a lighting solution that supports stability, clarity, and experimental reproducibility whilst providing flexibility.
To meet these needs, we developed the SciLumi - White NIR. A compact, dual-mode LED light source that combines visible white light for eyepiece viewing and 775 nm near-infrared (NIR) illumination for camera-based workflows such as IR-DIC, all in a single, purpose-built unit.
Designed specifically for electrophysiology setups, SciLumi - White NIR offers independent brightness control, and simple one-handed switching between light modes—eliminating the need for separate lamp houses, blocking filters, or manual adjustments that risk disturbing your recording. Its fanless, LED-based design ensures ultra-low noise, sustainable performance, making it ideally suited for sensitive electrophysiological recordings across a range of experimental models.
Vincenzo Mastrolia, Post-doctoral researcher, Kings College London
"The LED lamp is extremely powerful and offers a very wide range of intensity for the infrared light, which makes visualisation of cells within a slice very easy. The controller is very intuitive to use and allows fine control of light intensity and quick switch between white and infrared light."
